SAMEER AL-DOUMY/AFP via Getty Aubrey Plazawalked the red carpet at the 2025Cannes Film Festivalon Friday, marking her first appearance at a big premiere since thedeath of her husband,Jeff Baena, almost five months ago. TheParks and Recreationalum joinedMargaret QualleyandCharlie Dayat the event to promote their new detective comedy,Honey Don't,from married filmmakersEthan Coenand Tricia Cooke. Baena was pronounced dead at his and Plaza's home in Los Angeles on the morning of Jan. 3. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner determined that the 47-year-old writer-director had died by suicide. Michael Tran/FilmMagic Plaza, 40, and Baena began dating in 2011 and married in 2021. Plaza starred in Baena's feature directorial debut, the zombie comedyLife After Beth, which he also wrote. "This is an unimaginable tragedy,"Plaza said in a statement shared withEntertainment Weeklyfollowing his death. "We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time." The couplewere separatedat the time of his death, according to Baena's autopsy report. Plaza wore a sheer, cream-colored dress with bead embellishments over a corset and matching panties on the red carpet. Honey Don'tfollows Qualley's lesbian detective Honey as she attempts to link a sleazy preacher (Chris Evans) to a string of deaths. Qualley also headlined Cohen and Cooke's 2024 film,Drive-Away Dolls. American audiences can catchHoney Don't —which received asix-and-a-half-minute ovationfollowing its premiere at Cannes — when it hits theaters on Aug. 22.
